Service Description

In this class, we focus on building polite leash walks when you need them, including eliminating pulling on the leash. The class consists of 3 one-hour sessions, and there is a limit of 2 dogs per class to ensure that each participant receives individualized and customized attention. Some parts of class may take place outdoors, weather permitting. Wear comfortable but sturdy shoes that will help to ensure your stability for each session. Please contact me if you need any accommodations. Flat buckle collars, harnesses that don't restrict your dog's movement, and a 4-6 foot NON-RETRACTABLE leash will be required for class. Prong collars, shock collars, retractable leashes, and other such equipment may not be used. Our goal is to teach the dogs what we want them to do. We are not looking to merely repress unwanted behaviors. We will be using treats (primarily, because they typically work very well) to reinforce behaviors we want. We'll discuss reducing and fading reinforcers during class. The expectation is that once you have reached your training goal, you can move toward using treats minimally to maintain behaviors. Results will depend on your follow-through and work that you do with your dog beyond class sessions. This class is for dogs comfortable working around other dogs. Not for dogs displaying reactive or aggressive behaviors (there will be a lot of motion, which may trigger reactive dogs or dogs with. a history of displaying aggressive behaviors). Documentation of up-to-date rabies, distemper, and parvovirus vaccines required prior to the start of class.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel, please contact me at 717-503-5016 at least 1 week in advance so I have sufficient time to fill your spot in the class.
